Abstract
Huesca’s Discalced Carmelite convent of La Encarnación was founded in 1622 at the instigation of Ana Santapáu, a widow and owner of the house which would be the first residence of the new religious community, on Calle Pedro IV. This article analyses how the founder was able to become the owner of all the Huesca assets of her marriage with Maestro Juan Garay, how her house was adapted for use by a closed order, and, above all, the location of the building, which was sold by the nuns shortly before they left it in 1634, and immediately converted to house the school of Santa Orosia.
