Evidencias de predación de dinosaurios terópodos en el Maastrichtiense superior, Cretácico superior de Arén (Huesca)

Resumen
Se presentan por primera vez evidencias de predación sobre los dinosaurios hadrosaurios del Maastrichtiense superior en Arén (Ribagorza, Huesca). Estas evidencias son la presencia de dientes aislados en relación con las carcasas de los hadrosaurios: marcas de carroñeo sobre las espinas neurales de las vértebras caudales y una patología también en una vértebra caudal. Las marcas anastomosadas representan uno de los pocos casos del registro fósil de aprovechamiento complejo por parte de los terópodos de los huesos de los hadrosaurios. La patología se interpreta como resultado de un mordisco de un carnívoro y la posterior infección producida por los microorganismos patógenos presentes en la boca del predador. El rápido desarrollo de la infección pudo ser causa de la muerte del dinosaurio.
